"A woman makes an outfit her own with her accessories"
~ Oscar de la Renta ~
Now that you've picked the dress of your dreams, it's time to start thinking about different ways you may want to style it. Obviously your dress will be the star of the show, but little details such as the addition of a drop earring or show-stopping necklace can take your bridal look to the next level! We have devised a list of our top rules we try to follow when styling one of our lucky brides-to-be!
Less Is More
"Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory."
~ Coco Chanel ~
We at Elody Bride live by this quote. It's so easy to add on more jewellery and before you know it you have bracelets, rings, a necklace and earrings and your jewellery loses it's impact. We believe you cannot do wrong with a simple drop earring, especially when paired with a sweetheart neckline and a chic updo!
Match Your Metal
We recommend matching the colour of your jewellery to your dress. For example, if you have a champagne gown, we love going for gold or even rose gold jewellery for a soft, romantic look. Whereas for a pure white dress, we tend to recommend silver or platinum jewellery as gold can often contrast too much against the crisp white. Alternatively, an ivory dress is your best friend as it is the most versatile - you can pair this with silver, gold or rose gold metals depending on your style.
Bring on the Bling
Bad luck to wear pearls on your big day? We say ditch the superstitions!
Pearl jewellery is a timeless addition to your wedding look, both traditional and beautiful, your wedding pictures will never look out of style. We have the most stunning pearl and crystal drop earrings to add a touch of sparkle to your gown. If you love pearls but aren't a fan of longer earrings, we also have a pearl clutch bag, the perfect size for holding all your wedding day essentials.
Compliment Your Neckline
"I've always thought of accessories as the exclamation point of a woman's outfit"
~ Michael Kors ~
We always say that if you are going to wear a necklace, try to choose one that compliments the neckline of your dress. We recommend that sweetheart necklines often look better with a choker style necklace, a larger statement necklace usually matches a strapless dress and if your dress has a V-neck, a slim pendant often accentuates the neckline. Don't forget to stick to what you know for maximum comfort on your wedding day and pick something that you will feel comfortable in!
